Counselling and Psyochtheraphy

Counselling is a professional relationship, which enables and empowers the individual to confront and manage their issues/difficulties. We nearly all face difficulties, and challenges in our life at some time. The therapist supports the client to develop their own resilience, to explore all options, and encourages personal growth and development. Counselling tends to address more immeadiate issues such as relationship breakup or breavment. Psychotheapy tends to deal with more long term issues such as abuse and trauma, where the effects are more longterm. Trust, respect, confidentiality, and good professional boundreis are essential in the therapeutic relationship.

My Approach
I arrange an itial appoimtment to assess if counselling is appropriate. If we proceed I then outline a working contract in relation to fees, confideltiality, cancelations etc., I suggest an initial 6 sessions, some clients find this is sufficient while others want to explore their issues at a deeper level. My specific approach is guided by the needs of the client and the presenting issue. I have trining in short term soloution focused therapy and cognitive behavoural therapy, and also in deeper therapeutic work.
I enjoy my work and constantly feel very privilaged to share in my clients therapeutic journey.
